THE NEW 5ESSENTIALS
Welcome to the redesigned data tool

PRINCIPLES OF THE DESIGN

INQUIRY DRIVEN . SIMPLE . ALL THE DATA . PERSONAL
The redesign aimed to: move users through the tool by answering questions; give users all of their data; allow them to tailor their view of the data to their needs; and keep the look and feel simple in order to stay out of the way of the powerful data it provides. Drag the vertical blue bar left to compare the designs.

HOW IS MY SCHOOL DOING OVERALL?
This is the first question users have when they come to the 5Essentials tool and it can be answered two ways: by looking at the Essentials and how they compare, or by getting a view of all their underlying measures at once. Click on the points of interest above to see a preview of the where each button leads.

SIMPLE

SIMPLE
CLEAN AND CONSISTENT
The website uses the simple but effective line graph to show data throughout. It allows users to easily compare multiple items at once and see change over time when they click on the "2 Year Change" or "All Year Trends" buttons of left side navigation panel. Users can also explore each Essential by clicking "details." Drag the vertical blue bar to compare.

ALL THE DATA

ALL THE DATA
FOR EASY EXPLORATION AND COMPARISON
Users can easily see all of their data in one place - every measure, every year - and as a result are able to identify strengths, weaknesses, outliers, and even trends in ways they couldn't before.

FILTER GROUPS
1. What are our strengths? 2. What are our weaknesses? 3. Where have we improved? 4. Where have we struggled? The tool puts these answers at users' fingertips with filter groups. Additional filters also can also be applied by clicking on the "Filter by Measure Group" drop down menu. Drag the slider above to see how!

NOTE TAKING AND COLLABORATION
Throughout the tool users can take notes on the measures where ever they appear. These notes are saved to the "Measure Notes" page, where they can be shared and used for collaborative action planning. On the measure page, users can also get a better grasp on their scores by using different comparisons or exploring items.
